“Hello, Didi is that you? Can you hear me clearly? Am I audible? Is it snowing out there? Did you make a snowman?” I had more questions before my elder sister could ever open her mouth. This was in the year 1998 and my sister was studying in Switzerland. Those were the days of ISD telephone calls which were very expensive and top of it all was pretty complicated with delayed voice and often disconnections. She would, later on, tell me stories about Zurich, Bern, Bossey etc.
I was fascinated about Switzerland and forever dreamed of feeling the soft snow kissing my face as they fall from the heavens above on a cold wintery night with a snowman winking at me.

“How about starting our own magazine” declared my sister, my cousin brother nodded to the thought and I jumped into the air sensing some sort of activity regardless of what it actually was. Being kids of the 80’s our access to television was limited and obviously, Internet was something from the James Bond movies thus most of the leisure free time was used in thinking and executing all sorts of obnoxious plans. Be it a sports club with exclusive access to cousins and family members even though it was housed in the godown originally meant to store coal for the house or starting our own private library in the same godown with our limited stock of Tinkle and Tintin comics we always wanted to form a group of like-minded people where we could share some quality time and in the process have a great fun.

It was the second Instameet conducted Calcutta Instagrammers that I was attending on a dull grey March morning. The date was 6th of March 2016 and nearly six months back I had participated in my first Instameet. Things were quite different this time, unlike the first meet, this time, there were quite a few known faces and more than that there were many friends who I had acquired from the last Instameet.
This walk was organised on behalf of Turtle by Calcutta Instagrammers team and the theme for the day was “Graffiti” or you can say street art. The start point was Indian Museum and from there we will move to New Market and Sudder Street area which is slowly becoming a graffiti hub in this city.

Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google + and now Instagram, there seems to be a never-ending addition to the number of social media applications that keep getting added to my phone but out of these Instagram is something really different since the core of its concept is Image and Video sharing. Being an avid photographer this is what I wanted, something by which I could share all my personal favourites to my friend group.
